The Principality of Monaco with ASD represented at the 40th ICAO Assembly
The Principality of Monaco participated in the 40th Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which was held in Montreal from 24 September to 4 October. She was represented by Dr Diane Vachon, Consul General of Monaco in Montreal and Permanent Representative of Monaco to ICAO and by Bruno Lassagne, Director of Monegasque Civil Aviation.
The Principality intervened to raise awareness in the Assembly to adopt ambitious resolutions in the field of environmental protection, in particular to promote the use of alternative aviation fuels and to pursue the CORSIA programme, which commits ICAO member countries to reducing and offsetting their aviation CO2 emissions. The Delegation also intervened on the subject of airport security to call for the maintenance of a high level of security at international airports.
She took the opportunity to present to a number of States concerned with UAV traffic the brand new Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) platform developed by Air Space Drone and recently installed in the Principality. This presentation, jointly organized and financed by Monaco and Air Space Drone, took place at the Consulate General of Monaco in Montreal, in the presence of Dr. Fang Liu, Secretary General of ICAO, and allowed representatives of the Principality to discuss with some of their foreign counterparts the compatibility issues between conventional and unmanned aircraft. These senior civil aviation officials from several continents were also able to obtain information from Air Space Drone executives on the technologies used in Monaco and future innovative developments.
Many contacts have been made between the Monegasque Civil Aviation Authority and some of its foreign counterparts interested in the Monegasque experience in managing UAV traffic.
